Ever wanted to learn to play a guitar?

• Here's your chance!

Here are the details:

• Who:
  • There is NO AGE LIMIT and NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED to be part of this group.
• What:
  • Free group guitar lessons provided by Pastor Mike and some other experienced players.
• When:
  • Dates -- The group class will (usually) meet each Saturday, April 25 through June 13*

  • Times -- Usually, the group will meet from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
    • *There are some exceptions, though:
      • We won't meet during Memorial Day weekend.

      • We'll need to "tweak" our time on one other occasion too:
        • Friday, May 15 -- We'll meet on Friday evening that week instead of Saturday so we can attend the church-wide picnic on Saturday, the 16th.

      • Note: actual, week by week, schedule is shown at the bottom of this page.

  • "Graduation night" will be Sunday evening, June 14, 6:00 p.m.
    • The Guitar Club will provide the musical accompaniment for "Sunrise At Nite"
      • Yep, people will actually be singing along as we play!
• Where:
  • In the auditorium of Sunrise Mountain Baptist Church
    • 8542 W. Deer Valley Road
• Why:
  • To have some great fun together as we learn
  • To meet some folk who might not otherwise be attending church
  • To "discover" some raw talent who can help with further musical projects in the future.

Other frequently asked questions:

• Do I need to bring a guitar?
  • Yes. If you don't already have one, maybe someone you know will loan you a guitar for the duration of the class.
  • You need to have it with you during the whole 8 weeks...because you'll need to practice on it at home. (Two hours a week in class simply won't be enough time to really learn how to play, but the simple repetitive "homework" will make it possible.)

• What if my guitar is electric, is that okay?
  • Yes. Accoustics, electrics, 6-string, 12-string, any are welcome.
  • Note: If you bring an electric guitar, you will need to also bring your own amplifier, plug-in cords, extension cords, etc.

• Do I need to tune it before I come?
  • No. That's one of the first lessons, learning how to tune a guitar.
  • And, we'll need to all be tuned to the same pitch (concert pitch), so we'll spend the first several minutes of each session making sure everyone's guitar is tuned and we're all tuned together.

• Saturday, Apr 25 -- Class #1
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. -- Opening Day!

• Saturday, May 2 -- Class #2
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Saturday, May 9 -- Class #3
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Friday, May 15 -- Class #4
  • 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • (Note the change to Friday for this particular week so we can attend the church-wide picnic on Saturday)

• No classes during the Memorial Weekend of May 22-24.

• Saturday, May 30 -- Class #5
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Saturday, June 6 -- Class #6
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Saturday, June 13 -- Class #7
  • 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Graduation Night -- Sunday, June 14
  • 4:45 p.m. -- Check-in for tuning, stage placement, brief run-through
  • 6:00 p.m. -- "SUNRISE AT NITE" features the Guitar Club!
